Back in 2019 my husband emailed one of his favorite restaurants in Robinson, TX. He believed in my work so much that he wanted to see if I could actually get a paid shoot through a restaurant. I wasn't sure of myself back then. I was just two years into this whole photography thing and I still wasn't comfortable calling myself a photographer just yet. But a few months after my husband emailed Te'Jun, the owner responded back asking for a quote. I couldn't believe it! I was so nervous, but I had to believe in myself and just go with the flow. We ended up meeting with the General manager and we went over the entire process and I remember just being so fearful, but the whole time I kept hearing this still small voice say, "This is your job." I just stayed quiet and I believed. When I was finishing up with the interview I remember seeing so many bible verses around the ends of the tables which inspired me even more to want to get the gig.
After the interview I sent the official quote and waited. I didn't hear anything for a few weeks and I began to get antsy. I questioned that voice multiple times wondering if I was crazy. I even reached out and I finally got a response a few weeks later. The owner was happy with everything and he wanted to go through with the shoot, but I'm guessing he got busy and I heard nothing back. I became content that this wasn't the gig for me and I was pretty disappointed, but I had peace about it.
Winter hit and nothing, then Covid hit and then there was still nothing. So I pretty much moved on. So lets fast forward to 2021. In early May, my husband and I took a drive to Hillsboro, TX and there was a billboard with Te'Jun the Cajun on it and my husband commented on it and I didn't think nothing of it. The following day I got up in the morning and I didn't check my emails like I do every morning. I was caught off track that day. I was on the phone with my husband and I received a a phone call from an unfamiliar number so I let it go to voicemail. Then I checked my emails while I was chatting with my husband and there it was. It was an email from Te'Jun and they said they were interested in going forward with the photo shoot. I could not believe it! I kind of laughed and my husband was wondering what I was giggling about. I told him I received an email from Te'Jun and they were ready to move forward with the photo shoot. Folks, it took two years to get this shoot and honestly I am very thankful because I wasn't ready for this kind of shoot and I definitely didn't value myself as a photographer so I am humbled that the good Lord allowed me to get my gear on point and He completely prepared me for when it was the right time. God is always on-time!
I truly believe it was the Holy Spirit speaking to me that day when I heard that still small voice say, "This is your job." I am humbled by the whole process. A few years ago a co-worker of mind told me something I'll never forget. She said, "God's delays are not always God's denials" and that was one of the thoughts that came to mind when this opportunity came to me back in May. I did the shoot and here are some of the photos down below. Thanks for stopping by to read the blog and if you can remember one thing from this post remember to believe that there is something bigger than us out there and whatever you believe it's got your back. Also, before I close if you are ever in Robinson, Tx or Waco, Tx please stop at Te'Jun you will not regret it! Thanks for reading!
